Easy Water

I left the house early this morning at about 6:30. I’m heading to a different beach today.

I don’t get to the beach until after 2PM but it feels more like 4 to me.

I walk into the water and things are noticeably warmer than Wednesday. Like 20 degrees warmer!

Oh yeah. I’m in Maui. Pretty much everything is different about this swim than my swims at the Strand in Dana Point (especially in January).

The water is warmer, clearer and apparently saltier too. I did not know that different parts of the ocean had different saline levels but I would learn that at dinner later.

This is without a doubt a magical place.

I swim through Kapalua Bay and past the reef that separates Kapalua from Napili. Around the reef and into Napili Bay. Then I swam back the way I came and hung out for a while in the outer end of Kapalua Bay.

Easily my favorite thing to see here are the Sea Turtles. I think they are so majestic. They look like these old souls sagely floating through the water.

I also love all of the varied and brightly colored fish. There are a couple times where I would turn a corner around the reef and there would be 30 assorted fish freely floating in the deeper water and they look like a constellation of stars standing in a sky of ocean.

What a great and amazing place!
