The Waves in the Sea Go Up and Down
Today was definitely one of those fantastic spring swim days. I finished up a 3 and a half hour meeting that started at 6 and some other work and got out of the house about 10:30. It was a bit breezy and about 61. The last couple of days we have had a very cool breeze. When I got to the beach it felt a little warmer but my body was feeling on the cold side. On the way down the stairs I was escorted by this super adorable dog.
When I got to the water it felt about the same as it has the past couple swims - cool but comfortable. This was one of those days where I actually felt warmer in the water than out of it. Not because it was super warm (it was probably about 62ish) but sometimes being immersed in the water feels warmer especially on a breezy day. You don’t have the chill hitting you and you are in a more constant/static temperature.
The day is so beautiful. A much more benign beach than it was on Sunday. It’s sunny and the water definitely has some texture but it doesn’t look mean and angry today. The surf is down a notch or two as well. However, throughout the entire swim it felt like I was on a roller coaster. Not the type of bounce you get from small chop but the feel of peaky, rolling waves passing by. It was kind of fun.
The beautiful blue and warmth of the water along with the calmer breaks and sunny skies really made this ocean setting feel like a paradise. I was just focusing on the good vibes of the water as I swam. I felt surrounded by images and feels from memories of good times at the beach. It was like this blue had this great feeling to it that you just want to lose yourself in. Forget about work and other troubles. I’m feeling so fortunate to be able to have these experiences. The ability to take a break from work, hop in the car, and be in a place like this is really a unique privilege.
It feels warmer when I get out of the water than it did when I got in - probably because it is. Walking up the stairs to my car is blissful in this sun. I can’t keep from closing my eyes every now and then and feeling a warmth surrounding my heart. So good.
